Hey all! Long time Iron user, first time forum poster.
The last few days I've been swapping out a few parts on my aging laptop (ASUS K52jc), which ended in me installing a Samsung EVO 860 SSD and doing a fresh Windows 7 install to purge out 9 ears of old temp files and registry entries. I'm running Windows7 SP1just as I was before I did a clean install, but now any time I open up Iron, I see the standard loading box at the lower left corner, but otherwise all I see is a black screen (pictured). No address bar, refresh/stop button, just the window bar at the top, and the standard minimize/maximize/close buttons. Funny thing is that if I move my mouse cursor over the window, I can see the little information boxes pop up as I hover over the default favorite links on the homepage (also pictured), but nothing else. I initially downloaded the 32-bit version by mistake, but I uninstalled and reinstalled the 64-bit version, and had the same issue. I've since re-installed my antivirus software, flashed my BIOS to the most recent version to get my GPU running, ran Windows Update to install SP1, rebooted, and just did a fresh install of Iron 64-bit - nothing has worked so far. Upon my Windows installation I deleted a bunch of ASUS/other bloatware, but kept everything that looked familiar from before I did all of these modifications. I've been running Google Chrome with no issues, so my impression is that anything keeping Iron from running would have an impact on Chrome as well, but like I said, it runs fine. I'd hate to ditch Iron since it's been my favorite browser for the last 7-8 years, so I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this - thanks in advance!

Re: Black screen on Iron with fresh Windows install...
Hi!
I had a same problem. I downloaded the latest version of Iron (74.0.3850.0), and ran into the exact same issue. I also have a laptop running Windows 7 64-Bit.
My workaround was the following. I created a shortcut to Iron with the command line "--disable-gpu." With this, I could start Iron easily (no black window), then I went into the settings and turned off the Hardware Acceleration option.
Hope that helps!
