How to recover LOST bookmarks?

For some reason after I synchronised my book marks with my Google mail on my 4 th pc( laptop) I LOST a very important folder that contains some 15 bookmark links. This folder was previously on my bookmarks tool bar right in front--now it has totally disappeared.I use these 15 links on a daily basis and it has taken months to accumulate them!

So my questions;-

1) Can I access the store on my google mail directly, outside of Iron, and recover?
2) I have an image (Paragon) that I took 2 weeks ago. If I do a selective restore from that image, back to ( overwrite ) the Iron installation folder, - where exactly will I find the (original) bookmarks stored please?

Thanks ( P.S. If it is so easy to accidentally destroy synched book marks, what do you advise for regular backing up-which folder?)
