Record: Intel Raptor Lake CPU reaches 9 GHz by overclocking

In the course of an extreme overclocking experiment, Asus, in cooperation with the overclocker "Elmor", managed to overclock an Intel Raptor Lake CPU to 9 GHz. Nobody had succeeded so far, the previous records were in the range of 8.7-8.8 GHz.

9,008.82 MHz were reached with a Core i9-13900K and the old record from October 2022 exceeded by almost 200 MHz . An "ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEX" mainboard in combination with 16 GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RAM was used.

A key point of the experiment was the use of liquid helium. Liquid nitrogen is otherwise common for extreme overclocking. However, with liquid nitrogen, only up to -196 ° C can be reached, while the helium -269 ° C can be reached.
