NVIDIA 4000 series - good performance and better availability

The availability problems of the last graphics card seem to have been overcome, in the new generation there is not Delivery bottlenecks to expect. The problem with the strong price increase due to delivery problems is also a thing of the past.

Three models have been announced: GeForce RTX 480 has 12 GB of memory and costs 1099 euros, the variants with 16 GB of memory costs 1469 euros. The RTX 4090 costs 1949 euros.

First of all, it is striking that a TSMC 4NM-EUV was installed as a chip, with Nvidia skipping an entire node. The chip has only a size of 608 mm (the predecessor model brought it to 628 mm). At first glance, this does not sound particularly impressive, but increases the number of transistors from 28.3 billion to 76.3 billion.

The AD102 GPU has a total of 144 streaming multiprocessor (SMS), the memory interface has 12x32-bit controller.

Of the three announced graphics cards, only the RTX 4090 is currently available. The previous model was cheaper at 1500 euros, but the price increase hardly got normal consumers.

The cooler is similar to the previous model, but the architecture ensures a 20 percent higher air flow.

For gamers, these graphics cards are definitely recommended and they represent significant progress towards the previous models, especially when it comes to availability for the launch.
