Job cuts at Seagate

Fewer and fewer PC owners rely on hard drives and use SSDs instead. This also affects the market leader Seagate . The sales have broken down and is currently only $ 2.035 billion. Last year, sales were more than a billion higher. Seagate even calculates that the situation could continue to worsen even further.

A complete restructuring of the company is planned. Despite the massive decline, the company generated a profit of $ 29 million. Nevertheless, the nerves are blank and the company management draws the first consequences. There should be a strong reduction in expenses, production quantities and personnel costs. In the course of this restructuring, around 3000 employees are expected to lose their job.

Next year Seagate expects savings of $ 110 million. Initially, however, the measures cause costs of up to $ 70 million, including due to discount payments to employees who sign a resolution contract.
