Upgrading to a newer version

I've attempted upgrading to newer versions of Iron in the past. Each time I encountered problems with extensions, apps such as Flash, etc., so I would uninstall go back to Version 22.0.1250.0 (160000). Been using that version successfully for what seems like years now. Starting to run into quite a few sites that I cannot utilize because the browser (or version) is unsupported. I've got a few questions that I hope you good folks can answer or give an opinion:

1. Are the upgrades to Iron similar to those in Chrome as many sites state that they need Chrome 25.0 or greater? Just curious because I don't know if it's the Iron browser in general or just the version that makes it unsupported.
2. Can the Profile for an upgrade be installed into any other folder other than Chromium? (As I'm pretty sure everyone knows once the Profile is ungraded in the Chromium folder, the profile from the previous version is lost).
3. What recent version of Iron seems to be the most a stable?

Thanks so much for any replies.
