Won't save settings - Version 72.0.3750.0

Solution: Go to the directory where Chrome stores your data (on Windows: "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default") and remove the folder "File System". This won't make matters worse: the data in this folder is already corrupted. Removing the directory will allow Chrome to create it again and use it correctly.

the solution - if your issue - is for chrome/iron installed (not portable)
in your case must find the "file system" in your portable folder and try it

No such file on my pc, and I have the full 32bit install. Also, the previous version I had until this morning started magically installing the Skype and Adobe reader extensions, but refuses to load the Startpage search/homepage extension...

And one more thing, to this day (and I've had Iron for many years), I still cannot set Iron as my default browser - I click on it in the browser settings, but it never sets.

For now, I'm going to try and reinstall an older version and hopefully someone will figure this out (I really appreciate all who make this browser happen, it is truly my favorite browser!). Thanks!

P.S. Tried installing older versions, and it still won't save my start page, and it keeps reinstalling Skype and Adobe extensions every time I open the browser. Could really use some help on this issue before it crashes and I lose everything.

The path and the directory in the above advise is wrong. You are looking for the System Profile directory in
C:\Users\--------\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data\System Profile

Don't know if deleting this directory fixes anything but that's where it is.

As for not being able to set iron as the default browser, the solution has been posted many times...read more carefully.

Once again: Use the iron Config & Backup Tool to set Iron as your default browser. Load the tool and click the big box containing "Set Iron as the default browser".
