problems on Activity monitor

I'm using Both Leopard 10.5.8/Snow Leopard 10.6.8 .. Intel
my Activity Monitor Shows 2 - some times 4 "Iron renderer"
WHY? it's using 30 to 45MB EACH! ... in addition to the Chromium Helper!
what's going on??
Also.. Can I use Iron on Intel Mac OSx 10.4.11?
