Hello SRWare-team,
Now that I've switched to a new computer, there's one thing about Iron that really annoys me.
Namely, the title bar, address bar, and bookmarks bar are very high (fat) in relation to all other graphic elements. Especially in relation to UI fonts (bookmarks and labels of bookmark folders).
My new desktop has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and the desktop scaling is set to 150% (recommended by Windows). On my old computer, I had 1920 × 1080 pixels at 125% scaling.
After tweaking the Iron settings on the new computer so that the web pages are displayed in the usual scaling, I cannot reduce the size of the pure UI elements of the browser (without simultaneously achieving a suitable web page display).
I have already tried different values for the following command line parameter:
/high-dpi-support=1 /force-device-scale-factor=[x] (x=1 ... 1.5)
I have also tried various settings in the properties of the Iron shortcut under the Compatibility tab.
When I use forced scaling via the command line parameter to get the Iron UI the way I want it (/force-device-scale-factor=1.2) and enlarge the website scaling accordingly (so that everything looks good), there is the problem that the fonts in the Iron UI menus (e.g., in the bookmarks bar and the bookmarks folder) are so microscopically small that they are almost impossible to read. The ratio of “UI font to height of title bar/address bar/bookmarks bar” is always fixed, which prevents flexible adjustment of the UI and website display.
It would be great if there were more settings options here.
The following screenshot shows the Iron UI with the normal 1.5 scaling of Windows. In comparison, on the right is a Windows Explorer window that corresponds to my scaling preferences on the computer.
Kind regards
Markus
