New Iron-Version: 5.0.380 for Windows

Post by SRWare »

You can get Iron 5.0.380 now, which is no more a preview release. Version 5.0.380 also includes a bunch of new features - e.g. an automatic translation is included now.

There will be also versions for Linux and Mac soon.

Thanks for putting this up for us.

I've only seen one major and one minor issue so far:

Google GMail Checker Plus (versions 1.1.7 and 1.1.8) do not work with 5.0.380. This extension was working fine with Iron 5.0.326 Alpha and Iron version 4.x. It crashes every time the browser is opened (you get the "Reload" info bar), it does not show up on the extension page for uninstalling, and you must remove it by going to the local user directory and manually deleting the extension folder.

The minor issue seems to be cosmetic. For some reason, when you highlight the Username textbox at gmail.com, you get two "(Unlabled)" text choice pop-downs. I have never seen that before on any browser, and it happens every time you click in the text box. I am attaching a screenshot for reference:

If these two issues could be ironed out (no pun intended), I will be very happy!

Thank you for the new release to test!

The only problem I noticed so far is a bit unusual. In 90% of cases when I wake up my laptop from suspend state Windows 7 (32Bit) welcomes me with "Iron application crashed" message. I saw similar report on German part of the forum.

Thanks for the update, much appreciated! :)

Could you simply explain why HTML5 isn't available on this browser and if it ever will be?

Thank you!

No problems so far - Thanks again for continuing this browser and updates.

Very much like the new content location options, dont allow any site to track physical location

The new pop-up translator will be handy too, though I guesse it uses google translate?

:) Just popped back to say also a BIG thank you for the option to disable plugins

Anyone wondering what the hell I am talking about?

In your address bar type about:plugins

Press enter

See, browsers adopt plugins automatically, like flash/silverlight/microsoft office etc etc. Maybe you want some of those for less secure browsing where a particular site needs them, but what if you dont in another browser which you want to tighten up on privacy aspects and not give away your life to marketing and advertising (which is I think the number one reason for Iron as far as I am concerned)....

Thank you SRWare for the disable option there.
