I'm not so sure, a lot of people see SRWare Iron as a viable alternative to Google Chrome. Obviously more people actually use Chrome but I think things may change in the future. I would have thought more people used Iron than Sleipnir for example.

Thats wrong, Iron has much more users than K-Melon and co

I would not use German only stats.

Hmm.... those 2 links look like just usage stats for 2 specific German websites? All the more reason I would not use that as a representative example nor reference to say that Iron has alot of users.

Any worldwide stats?

SRWare Iron has quite a big following in the UK. I would wager more people use Iron than K-Meleon or Sleipnir in Britain. In fact, I'd never heard of SlimBrowser until recently. I have convinced quite a few people I know in person & online to download Iron & give it a spin. Most of them prefer it to Firefox & Google Chrome. The only person I know who uninstalled Iron after trying it was an Australian cyber-friend of mine & she loved Iron but discovered it conflicted somehow with another browser she had on her computer. She did say she would download it onto her other computer when she got it up & running though.

Hello

I have just installed Iron.

Windows doesn't recognize Iron as browser.

When you try to do : options, basic options, define srware iron as default browser, there is no effect... apart from define IE as default browser !

The ballon screen, of course, doesn't mention Iron.

Have a nice day !

What Windows OS are you using? I am using Vista Home Premium & Iron is in the task bar quick-start menu.

There is some bug that doesn't allow you to set SRWare Iron as the default browser on Windows.

hello

Thks for your answer

Vista home premium

Yes, Iron is in the quick start but many programs (other than browsers) are there.

No, I have Chrome too, everything is normal and it is possible declare it as the default browser.

For me, it's not a bug and my Vista doesn't recognize Iron as a browser (as recognizing an antivirus, a firewall, etc) .

Is Iron really your default browser ? (opening a link from a mail client or a text editor for example) ?

When you clock on Start, in the list, does Iron appears under "internet" ?

In task bar properties, start menu, customize, does Iron appear in the program list in "internet link" ?

Thks

I meant the 'quick-launch' menu on the task bar, mine has two next to the 'Switch between windows' icon; one for Internet Explorer 8 & a drop-down (it actually drops up) for my other browsers.

OK

I'm not sure what you mean, my antivirus & firewall recognises Iron & I can use Iron like any other browser on my computer.

No, I tried to make Iron my default browser. I actually have Opera 10.10 as my default browser, strangely it doesn't recognise Iron when I try to use the 'open with' function.

I'm not sure what you mean. It is in 'All Programs'.

Iron needs to gain a bigger number of users first. Which IS possible. And then, only then, it is actually possible to get such things...

To expand, some basic things can be done, in two areas - the website and the product.

The Website,
- Looks as if it was built of a template
- Does not look good at medium to high resolution - does not scale
- Latest news in 2009, before that 2008
- Contakt is not an English word
- Forum should be able to detect if IP is from an English speaking nation and adjust accordingly
:: Overall the website feels very unprofessional, if not suspicious. ::

The product,
- Faster releases (Even if there is almost no changes at all from release 1 to release 2)
- GUI for Iron-Specific features.
