how do I remove Bing completely.

Post by bhoughtal »

I hate Bing! I want to remove it from new tabs, but I still want a search engine (Google or other). In the settings I already set Google as my default search, but when I open a new tab and try to search it always uses Bing. How do I disable and replace this? Do I have to quit Iron again? I like Iron, but I will not use Bing! I even deleted it from the list of available search engines, but it remains on new tabs.

Who wants to disable the searchbox on New-Tab can extract this file to the Iron-Folder: http://www.srware.net/downloads/NewTabWithoutSearch.zip

Tried to extract as instructed, but I keep getting the error that the folder or files in it are being used. Closed all instances of Iron, and closed all tabs before closing Iron, but the message persists.

I've just installed Version 66.0.3450.0 (Official Build) (64-bit) and when I extract the resource.pak I just end up with Iron not starting, previous versions since I discovered this thread have worked fine and disabled bing from the new tab page.

Has this resources.pak been overtaken by changes in the latest iron version?

I do not understand why is so difficult to remove Bing from the search bar of a new page!
I've just installer the version 73.0.3800.1 but there also the Bing search bar.
I think you give some money from Microsoft to do this.
You create Iron for a secure surf on the web but for the search you use Bing from Microsoft!!!
It's non sense!

I'ts some months i'm using Iridium Browser and I think I will use it instead of Iron.
Really sorry!
Good bye Iron!
Welcome Iridium!
