I recently have installed version 48.0.2550.2 of Iron on my pc after a clean windows install. I'm using Srware Iron almost as long as it exist, therefore I was extra surprised when I opened the new tab showing a search bar redirecting to bing. As I would never install anything to do with bing I was quite upset and almost afraid that I might have caught a virus. in this topic you seem to have stated this bar is intended, and not removable or changeable. This was a reason for me to upgrade to an older version of Iron still. My question is if you plan to keep it that way, or will you make it possible to remove the bing bar or change it to a googlebar? Because if not so, I will quit using this browser.

You are not forced to use the searchbar ;) You can still search through the omnibox.
We added this for users, who write us dozens of mails per day because they miss a dedicated searchbar and do not know how the omnibox works.

We plan to make it flexible later - but at the moment we have other prioritys that are more important for most users.
So why the anger?

Of course I understand that I'm able to use the address bar as search bar, but still I'd rather not be confronted with that piece of... you know... utter ugliness. In my opinion it also does not fit Iron, and it's philosophy, as I can't imagine Iron to become Microsoft Copper or something. So I'd rather have it removed or changed. There is actually no anger but there is a bit of irritation regarding this, also because outside of the forum it's not clear whether it was intended or not, which is annoying because malware like searchconduit is known for hijacking search engines and newtabs to mention that ugly orange thing ;).

We think about making it optinal in one of the next versions.

Excellent news. Control the included files with patience if all ones are present and in the correct form (32 64bit and so on). ;)

Note: the last 48.....2 release has still not centered well (at least) on 1360x768 monitor (common on many laptops). Now the space match both searchbox and tiles.

Good work.
