Also, a tip for anyone who wanted to install Chrome extensions on the older SRWare Iron version (like I did with Iron version 27.0):
markaz wrote:One thing to keep in mind is that Google is more than aware that non-Chrome users are still able to access extensions and are taking measures to plug every loophole. Their newest one is the creation of a _metadata file that is part of a download and not "installed" in the User Data directory. Here's the newest message that appears in Iron when trying to install a .crx extension downloaded from the Webstore using the Downloader:

In looking at the .crx file name there is no "_" at the beginning of the name, so it's their recently added _metadata. I know no nothing about coding, but do wonder if this "barrier" is one that Iron developers could address. Dunno. What are a couple of the extensions you'd like to get? I want to see if I'm able to get them installed.
XtremeRampage wrote:I think I discovered from ABP forum a way to "fool" the Chrome developers shady attempt to forbid old extensions/chrome users:
https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic ... 6&start=15
change the extension from crx to zip

Then un-zip file the file locally. ==> in a folder
In chrome, go to the extensions page (tools -> extensions), select the 'Developer mode' checkbox
Click the "Load unpacked extension..." button
Navigate to the location of the unzip ABP extension folder. and select it.
ABP extension should load.
In my case, I tried to install an extension using above method but SRWare Iron still "unable" to accept the extension. The workaround is that I rename the folder contained within the unzipped extension (e.g: _metadata to metadata) before clicking the "Load unpacked extension..." button.

Again, thanks a lot to SRWare Iron team :ironvschrome

Thanks so much for the Tip!
Do the extensions work smoothly with this or are there any complications occuring?
Greetings!

Connects to various Google IPs shortly after login (probably during boot). I wouldn't mind if it did this after opening the actual Iron browser, that would be expected, but not before then. According to Wireshark, no bytes were transmitted, still, I'm not comfortable with this.

I know this isn't the fault of the SRWare team, but is there anyway to prevent this happening? I.e a registry entry removal? For now I've uninstalled it which has fixed the problem.

For the last old version of Iron one can use the following link:
https://www.srware.net/downloads/old/ <name of browser download file here>

For the download file you choose the file of the variant you would normally download, e.g.:
srware_iron64.exe (64 bits Windows),
IronPortable.exe (32 bits Windows portable),
iron.deb (32 bits Linux Debian-based),
iron-linux-64.tar.gz (64 bits Linux other dists),
iron-mac.dmg (64 bits macOS Intel),
IronMobile64.apk (64 bits ARM CPUs),
IronMobile_x86.apk (32 bits x86-CPUs)

...I think you get the idea behind the pattern? These are the same file names as the ones of the most recent downloads.
All downloads except OSX (64 bits only) are available in 32 and 64 bits versions, choose as you like.
Latest Linux 32 bits versions may be v.88 or v.89, sadly these dists becoming rare is reducing offers of modern softwares, too. :|
Latest old Android 5.x version should be v.89 atm, if I'm not mistaken. An older v.74 version was the last for Android 4.x afaik.

This link help should at least give those of you who have to the possibility to go back one version if need be.

Some very old versions could be found stored in the IA, but their captures are far from complete:

I remember this site (http://download1.srware.net/old/), or one very similar to it, used to have many many historical versions of SWIron.
Now its only showing versions 91 and 92.
Any chance of going back at least a little bit further?

Im having real problems ever since I upgraded to 92.
Downgrades to 91 don't seem to be working for some reason and Im really trying to fix this situation.

Same! I just went to it tonight to discover only 2 versions, and the portable folder versions to now be .EXEs not a .ZIP

Yeah versions 91 and 92 are really useless(we all know whose fault that is and it ain't SRWare), it would be good to at least have 80 and up available again, maybe 70 and up. Frankly security vulnerabilities concern me a lot less than basic usability, which 9x versions are entirely lacking.

Is there any chance of seeing those older versions at https://download1.srware.net/old/ once more?

I did search third party websites but have not had much luck.
