Windows 8 loading issue...

It has taken me a while to figure out how to get Iron as my default browser.
The only way I could do it was to install the software as administrator AND open the software as administrator.
Now I have a new problem - if I now open the software normally, windows opens a blank black screen for several minutes. It then revert back to the Metro menu screen. If I then click on the desktop icon, I am finally able to open Iron.
The only way I can use the software in a normal manner is to always open it as administrator. That may not seem like a big deal, but I am running two laptops (windows 7 & 8) and I often forget to open as administrator, resulting in my brand new laptop locking up for several minutes.
I should have had a perfect Windows 8 environment, because Iron was literally the first thing I installed onto the new machine - This laptop has no CD/DVD drive so the only way I can update drivers etc is via the web.
If anyone knows a way of setting Iron as the default browser AND being able to open the software in a normal (not as administrator) manner, I would be very grateful if they could let me know.
