Single tab for groups

Post by chaino »

Hello, is there in srw a way or with some extension to be able to group the tabs and that those grouped tabs are all one like in Chrome?.
Yes, in srw you can join groups by color, but they are not minimized to take up less space in the browser by having many tabs open. In other words, if I have 3 tabs open from the green group and 2 from the red, there are 5 tabs open in srw, but in chrome if I click on each of those groups they transform into only two tabs: a single red and a single green.

Thanks

Not sure, I remember Chromium had gotten a 'tab group' feature as beta a while ago. Never tested it tbh. See here about that feature, I think you mean this one? It is also part of Iron afaik:
https://www.howtogeek.com/656707/how-to ... le-chrome/

Think you were using this, didn't you? If you need more control, there are also tab scroll arrows you can add to the side, if you like to reach more tabs than just those shown. If so, you might use the 'experimental' area of settings. Please be aware of that, and only change what you have to. Into the url bar you type:

Code: Select all

chrome://flags/
Search for 'tab scroll' and you will find two entries. Set them to enable, restart browser, and test them out. If you do NOT want that functionality, set values back to default, restart. Please read here:

Other than these features there are a ton of 'tab management' extensions out there, but they do the job in different ways. Some are more minimalist, nice for those who always have the same tabs open at once. Others are pretty much for hardcore masochists who developed a tab hoarding disorder (well, me. :? ...Naaa, not that bad).

I tried some tab exts long ago, but now I am using 'Session Buddy' to select tabs and open them in specific windows, to keep them grouped like that. Nice thing is this ext is storing my tabs away as a whole session, too. Two for one value. Name gives it away. Usually I change sessions when I want to, else the tab windows stay open for a period. The ext allows me to switch to the window and tab I want. I could also select another session at the launch, the older most recent one is kept for later. Actually the ext is more a simple listing of links one can sort, but is enough for me. No fancy tab view, no thrills, blink and stuff.

I deinstall those exts I do not use anymore, so I don't really remember which I had tested, had been a few, but I bet you find a ton more in the Google ext store. You might start with 'Group Your Tabs' ext and go on to find others. Also 'TooManyTabs' I recollect, with previews and stuff. Here is an interesting, seems also rather fancy one called 'TabMerger':

Here are a few examples of tab management extensions, and what they do. Some I had tried myself I believe:

Can be, 'TabCloud' or 'OneTab' exts read like what you're aiming for? You have one tab only placed, but if you click on these, there are actually collections of links to websites, all together. So they do not take up too much space. Worth a try?

Please be aware, 'Great Suspender' ext mentioned in the link had been misused. Another proper version is here:
