We released the new Iron for Linux 72 today, which contains all features and updates known from Chromium 72. The current version is 72.3750.0.

Main improvements:
- Deprecation of TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1
- several minor improvements
- Bug-/Securityfixes

On Debian and distributions which use an older Kernel the following commands may be necessary (the .deb packages already do it automatically):

Code: Select all

cd [insert Iron directory here]
sudo chown root chrome-sandbox
sudo chmod 4755 chrome-sandbox
sudo chmod 4755 chrome-wrapper
./chrome-wrapper (for the start of Iron)

On Kubuntu, Lubuntu and other Non-GNOME-Distributions, please run once:

Code: Select all

apt-get install libgconf-2-4

To enable Netflix oder Amazon Video you have copy libwidevinecdm.so from an original Google Chrome installation to the Iron folder.
Alternative: Get it from the Slackware-Respos: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbu ... ne-plugin/

How to get Flash working:

Many who use Iron do so to reduce the amount of info sent to google. Seems counter productive to use Iron to connect to a google account. Maybe genuine Chrome will better meet your "evil company" surfing needs.

Is it really surprising that some google features don't work well with a browser that deliberately withholds data google is expecting to receive?

Hi

I have a problem with libwidevinecdm.so I have tried copying it to my Iron folder, and I cannot get it to work. It will not show in chrome://components/ I have tried with both a version copied from a Chrome install and the one from Slack. Is there something I should do to make Iron register the libwidevinecdm.so?
