We released the new Iron for Linux 66 today, which contains all features and updates known from Chromium 66. The current version is 66.3450.0.

Main improvements:
- Spectre protection
- improved pop-up blocker
- default preload value for <audio> and <video> elements is now metadata.
- Bug-/Securityfixes

Due to a bug only the 64-bit files are updated in this release!

On Debian and distributions which use an older Kernel the following commands may be necessary (the .deb packages already do it automatically):

Code: Select all

cd [insert Iron directory here]
sudo chown root chrome-sandbox
sudo chmod 4755 chrome-sandbox
sudo chmod 4755 chrome-wrapper
./chrome-wrapper (for the start of Iron)
On Kubuntu, Lubuntu and other Non-GNOME-Distributions, please run once:

Code: Select all

apt-get install libgconf-2-4
To enable Netflix oder Amazon Video you have copy libwidevinecdm.so from an original Google Chrome installation to the Iron folder.
Alternative: Get it from the Slackware-Respos: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbu ... ne-plugin/

Would love to see new version as I use it on my Chromebook running Ubuntu 16 Xenial with Chroot and I love it as Iron uses less CPU and gives me longer battery life.

Any idea when the next release will be coming out?

The last version of Iron for Linux is v66 which is 5 months old as of today...

Meanwhile, Google's Chrome was just updated to v70 a few minutes ago.

I prefer Iron, and personally I don't care about most of the new features; but I would like security updates anyway.

Thank you...
