The main window and all Chrome extensions crash immediately when I start up Iron v. 55. I've gone back to v. 54 until this is fixed

Using portable Iron on Windows 10.

Crashes instantly after start, doesn't even load. (Vista 32bit)
I updated from version 47 I think, PORTABLE versions, by copying over everything but the Profile folder, as stated in the readme.

When I copied over that again the backup of the previous portable version that I luckily made, it loaded - then I hit Ctrl+shift+N to open a private window, and as soon as I type one character into the address bar of the private window, it crashes.
This is repeatable.
I.e. there must have been files which were copied of the unzipped folder of the newer version into my "installation" folder which were not present by the older version, but are now loaded by the older executables nonetheless, and make it crash.

Then I deleted everything in the "install" folder and copied the backup again into it - this works as before, so it's not some funny stuff going on with my current windows session, it really was the mixture of old and new files.

My Set-up:

Win 7 64 bit
Iron 55 32 bit

I, too, had Iron 55 and all extensions crash after updating. My solution, for the moment, was to reboot and the problem seems to have been solved.

I have other Chrome based browsers (Vivaldi) installed on my computer and they were also crashing after I updated Iron to v55. But all seem well after a reboot.

Easy Peasy.
Think I had version 53.
Ten extensions.
Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit.
Everything seems much smoother.

Thanks!

We ran some optimizations over the last build and could improve the performance about 10%. We will make this "public" with the next release, but you can already gain by redownloading the setup/zip! (at the moment only for the default WebRTC-on builds)

Hi,

Thanks for v55.0.2900.1.

However, it doesn't work at all here (on Win10 x64). The first chrome.exe process that runs gets stuck and nothing more happens.

I tried v55.0.2900.0, but SEP detects chrome.exe and widevincdmadapter.dll as unsafe in this version, which is the first time ever that my A/V moans about an Iron build.
I'm using Iron Portable x64. I usually trust SEP, and even though it can get false positives, I'd rather stay clear of virii.

Would you please be kind enough to check on your side and ensure that nothing bad happened with those files...?

Until then, I'll stick to v54 which posed no threat to SEP...

Thanks a lot in advance,

Have a nice day,

Cheers !
