Awesome, I just disseminated this around the office, 8 out of 12 are asking for adblock functionality!

Nice! Any chance it will work on PPC?

Maybe Chromium will compile anytime on PPC, but then we would need a PPC, too. If anyone wants to donate then... ;)

Yes, I'll send you a ppc mac if you want! Until then, how do you want us to report bugs? How else can we help?

(1.) Where to obtain source code?

(2.) Can I suggest that you remove space(s) from the name, that is: SRWareIron.app (NOT "SRWare Iron.app"). Makes it easier for command-line users and scripts. I think any non-admin user, even Guest, can use it by dragging it to /Users/Shared/ folder (no need to reside in /Applications), since I run in a non-admin account for safety. Where ever it is located, the command-line switches can be passed to it as shown in these examples.

Code: Select all

/Applications/SRWare\ Iron.app/Contents/MacOS/Chromium  --disable-images

/Users/Shared/SRWareIron.app/Contents/MacOS/Chromium  --disable-images
Note: I had to include the full path in the command, as the following does not work (no big deal, not a bug!):

Code: Select all

$ pwd
/Users/Shared/SRWareIron.app/Contents/MacOS

$ ./Chromium --disable-images

[0110/130908:FATAL:/Volumes/google/src/base/mac_util.mm(80)] Check failed: bundle. Failed to load the bundle at /Users/Shared/SRWareIron.app/Contents/MacOS/Versions/4.0.249.4/Chromium Framework.framework
Trace/BPT trap

I am curious about the /Volumes/google mount though! I don't see any /Volumes/google when running SRWareIron.app

In a follow-up post I could provide a little .command shell-script and/or applescript to let you choose command-line options after I test which ones work on the extensive list at:

I actually was going to donate a PPC, but it does not look like chromium will ever run on PPC per long thread at:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/ ... structions

So this means Iron will never run on PPC, right?

Never say never, but the chances are not very high at the moment.
