Portable version actually is not portable

Post by iuser »

Tried protable version and installed some extensions with some other settings in profile using Win7.
Then restarted and loaded WIn10 on same pc and executed same "portable" version then browser reset almost all settings including installed extensions and displayed message that "detected something wrong" and because this most of settings was reset but ofcourse nothing wrong there and just os was changed on same pc.
It known problem of chronium browsers when after version update it can reset settings and remove extensions and I understand that for normal version this check was added for security issues but even in normal version it causes issues and for portable version it breaking portable purpose and need to disable the check to prevent auto-breaking profile settings. Without disabling the check portable version is same as normal and only stores profiles in same dir but cant be used in other os or pc.

..and if set portable version as default browser then will be set exe in Iron folder instead of IronPortable.exe . For myself changed path manually with regedit.

Concur - not portable. Boot drive failed and had two portable copies on different drives with slightly different extensions. Both started completely clean with no settings, extensions, or bookmarks. Old backup appeared to load, however, nothing evident when launching iron.
