adblock.ini - documentation? adblock plus sub

Post by Wisdom Fluxion »

It appears your implementation of adblock.ini does not support * wildcards for use in middle of strings.

# Iron Adblock list
# Version: 016A 13 Dec 2008
ref: http://fanboy.co.nz/adblock/
http://adblockplus.org/en/history

What is the purpose of two periods? -- line 328

What is the purpose of a period and file extension following a slash? -- line 210

Are "type=" (line 344) and | (line 1095) advanced features of AdBlock Plus, http://adblockplus.org/en/filters , "filters" and "Ends with", respectively?

Element hiding relies on the # symbol that you are using for commenting :(

thanks for adblocking either way.

http://ads.*.php?* (thats what it should be), again I don't know how this is filtered properly.

*/getclicky.com/*.js it should be.. (many filters like this)

Fixed 1094/1095, its an Adblock Plus feature, not a opera/iron feature.

it would be cool if someone could explain to me how to add this feature :).
I looked my ironportable dir and see a adblock.ini but it is blank well ok not totally blank but I don't see any references in there about adds . I am using Peerguardian2 which catches some but not to many adds.

What changes- or improvements have been made to adblock.ini or the Iron GUI for adblock?
12.03.2009: New Iron-Release: 2.0.168.0

Today we release a new Iron based on Chromium 2.0.168.0...Additionally we improved the the adblocker.

This actually posed a slight problem, as the new adblock.ini has overwritten the old one, containing my custom filters.
Fortunately I had a handy backup, but it should have been either merged with the old one or issued a warning that the file will be deleted somewhere.

How can one define an exception rule to adblock.ini? There are some valid sites about advertising which actually have the word 'advertising' in their URL, for instance.

Adblock can not be pasted to the Iron program on Vista>

Post by Jim Wilder »

I had no problem copying and pasting the block list on my 2 XP computers, but my new Vista computer will not allow me to copy and paste the list. How can I accomplish this? Thank you.

Jim Wilder, this might require the file copying being done from an administrator account or an account with admin privileges. Vista can be very fussy about things.

Thank you. I disabled the Administrator account in order to save the pasted adblock list and it worked.
