I keep getting this error.
./iron: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I found this bug and updated the wrapper script but it still didn't work.

Do I need to do anything else? Either way just letting you guys know. I'm on Fedora btw. :ironvsff

Sorry I didn't realize I had to execute chrome-wrapper instead of iron. I also changed 3 lines to say iron instead of chrome. Now I get this error.
[T3256@GURY iron-linux]$ ./chrome-wrapper
/home/T3256/Tools/SRWare.Iron/iron-linux/iron: /lib/libz.so.1: no version information available (required by /home/T3256/Tools/SRWare.Iron/iron-linux/iron)
/home/T3256/Tools/SRWare.Iron/iron-linux/iron: /lib/libz.so.1: no version information available (required by /home/T3256/Tools/SRWare.Iron/iron-linux/iron)
Illegal instruction
I read though that that might be a problem with the library. Thanks.

Hi. I need help installing Iron for fedora. I was unable to install Iron in fedora. The file manager does not launch. Also, I used the command to try to install it. ./iron. This is what it said: "./iron: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory." I have no idea what it means. I have libbz2.so.1.0 in /lib. I like this web browser. Thank you.

Iron for Linux now works on older CPUs without SSE/SSE2, too.

Hello developers.
I wish that I spoke German, as I'm sure it would make reading this easier.
Firstly, *thank you* and *dankeshoen* for creating a clean alternative to Chrome.
I like Chrome, and have been using Google's Chrome Beta for Linux, 32 bit.
I live in a place (The United States) that is becoming a police state, and I do not wish to be tracked, despite being a good citizen.
I love my country, but I don't love what Republicans have done to it, giving up civil liberties.
I am an American of German heritage, and I am concerned about the direction that my government is taking with regard to spying on it's citizens.
I value my privacy, and I am grateful that you good folks thought to change this nice browser to make it better, more private.
Thank you for your work and efforts.

Unfortunately, I'm having a problem running the 32 bit Beta of Iron, version 4.0.275.
I get this error:

Code: Select all

[renifer@pc]$ ./iron
./iron: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have installed zfstream in order to provide the libraries to run Iron:

Code: Select all

[renifer@pc]$ ls -la |grep libbz2*
Binary file libbz2.so.1.0.4 matches
However, this did not work, and I continue to get the same error, despite having zfstream, and libbz2 installed, which provides support for compressed files.
Maybe I need to do a symlink? Not sure how to fix this.

My Fedora kernel: 2.6.30.10-105.2.16.fc11.i686.PAE

Let me know what I need to do to fix this. I am very anxious to get this working. Thanks in advance for your help.
Is there a link to the source code? I might try compiling it myself so that I can be sure that everything that the program needs is linked.

Is the integrated Adblock supported on this build of Iron?

I've added adblock.ini into the directory I'm running Iron from, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the ads...

For the record, I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 x64 and the x86 version of Iron 4.275.

Thanks!

I don't see that this has been posted before, so here goes.

I am using Iron 4.0.275 on fedora 11. Fedora 11 has the following library file ....

/lib/libbz2.so.1.0.4

While Iron looks for /lib/libbz2.so.1.0

I solved this problem by creating a softlink as follows ...

cd /lib
ln -s libbz2.so.1.0.4 libbz2.so.1.0

I can now run iron by executing the 'iron' executable in the iron installation directory.
