@ light-blue:

The easiest solution is to download install iron from tar.bz file. Unpack it to /opt/ directory and then manually add it to your menu/desktop.

libpdf.so from Chrome installation and Iron

Post by cunio »

Dear All,

I have put the libpdf.so (google pdf viewer for Chrome) from chrome installation to iron directory. It works nice except that each pdf file is displayed three times in three separate tabs. Any solution to this behaviour?

Seems to be ok for now actually could be a bit more faster the previous versions seemed to be a bit faster this one actually the same as Google Chrome but starts faster on my machine. For Ubuntu users try installing iron.deb with GDebi run in Terminal sudo apt-get install gdebi then right mouse button click on iron.deb and choose gdebi it will gather information on dependencies to tell you if it's satisfied. If not luck you can always add and run this command in Terminal sudo ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libudev.so.0.13.0 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libudev.so.1 but mention this tested for 32bit version.

I had the same problem on Fedora 20 with the rpm.
I ended up downloading the tar.gz extracted and copied the files to /usr/share/ as root, then followed eval-s instructions from above.

*) Rename /usr/share/iron/chrome_sandbox to chrome-sandbox
*) chmod 4755 chrome-sandbox
*) cp -r /opt/google/chrome/nacl_* /usr/share/iron/

(Step 4 requires a current google-chrome installed from google)

File iron-linux.tar.gz contains packed a unnessesary .goutputstream-xxxxx file, what size is 18MB unpacked. :o
This file is hidden file, and is not shown in file manager.
What is .goutputstream-xxxxx file ? http://askubuntu.com/questions/151101/w ... ome-folder
After deleting this file, repacked archive 60,9 MB -> 54,8 MB
iron-linux-64.tar.gz is OK.

I got it. I installed it. It doesn't run. I can't even run it from Terminal:

zaivala@zaivala-desktop:/usr/share/iron$ iron
No command 'iron' found, did you mean:
Command 'cron' from package 'cron' (main)
Command 'imon' from package 'isdnutils-base' (universe)
iron: command not found

zaivala@zaivala-desktop:/usr/share/iron$ ls |more

chrome_remote_desktop.pak
chrome_sandbox
chrome-wrapper
content_resources.pak
