display protocol in address bar?

Post by gordon451 »

Is there any way Iron can by default display the protocol (http, https, etc) in the address bar as we type the URL?

For example (Iron 27.0.1500) if I type "eztv" the address bar will show "eztv.it", and the drop-down may show "eztv.it/search" etc, but the "{http:// | https://}" is never shown.

Can this be done? Is there a tweak or extension?

Gordon.

Hmmmmmm.

There used to be a time, not so long ago, when we chose the browser which pleased us the most.

But now we choose the browser which offends us the least. :geek:

I don't expect closed-source developments to be democracies. But I do remember when Microsoft listened to the multitudes complaining about IE3, and Netscape decided that it should copy IE3 into Nescape 4. . . And we wound up with a brilliant IE4 which set the tone of browsers for a decade, while Netscape crashed and nearly burned... :o

Chromium isn't the only offender. Try Page Setup>A4 in Firefox. That one is over 10 years old, and affects every Gecko fork.

Oh well, I suppose Microsoft will sort out their IE troubles sooner or later, and we'll have a decent browser again.
