Hello,
I am using Iron portable and every time I click on a link somewhere other than in the browser it opens a new window for that tab.
How can I make make all the non-browser links open a new tab in my existing Iron window?
Any help would be truly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Charles
How can I make Iron open new tabs in existing window?
Re: How can I make Iron open new tabs in existing window?
when you click the link press CTRL or CTRL+shift (to gain focus on that tab)
or use an extension

Neither of those work for me. When I click a link in my emails a new pop-out version of Iron opens in full screen. This is annoying, especially as it doesn't have any bookmarks bar or full compliment of extensions. This doesn't happen in Chrome, which simply opens a new tab. Much easier. Any solutions?

I dont need any of methods because it is working well opening a new tab. Disable any other extensions and retest

Using incognito tab makes no difference. Email links still open a pop-out minimal version of Iron.

I should just say that I use an external email program. If I open gmail from within Iron it just opens a new tab. However I have used the external email program, and with Chrome I never had this issue. Also if Iron isn't already open, clicking links crashes Iron when it tries to start.

try this:
open your registry (regedit)
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command
You should see one key, named (Default). Double click this to get an editing popup.
At the end of the Value data: field you should see the text -- "%1". (for opening in a tab)
If you see --new-window "%1", delete new-window part
you must have
"C:\Program Files\SRWare Iron\iron.exe" -- "%1"
repeat the same for
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https\shell\open\command

This is what I have already in both http and https:-
"C:\Users\Mike\Downloads\IronPortable\App\Iron\Iron.exe" -- "%1"
"C:\Users\Mike\Downloads\IronPortable\App\Iron\Iron.exe" -- "%1"
