Adblocker?

Does Iron 3.0.197 have an adblocker available of some sort? Will Iron #4 have an inbuilt adblocker?

I am fully aware that adverts are important for revenue but sometimes they are incredibly annoying if I am writing email or reading my online reader. K-Meleon has an inbuilt adblocker & Opera has a content blocking ability. If SRWare Iron had something like that it would be virtually perfect.

OK, I have seen this:

11.10.2008: Adblocker integrated in Iron

The wish of many users comes true: We integrated an Adblocker in Iron!
With a filterlist so nearly all online-advertising can be blocked. A working list can bedownloaded here and just has to be copied to the Iron folder (e.g: C:\Program Files\SRWare Iron\). Note: You must first get the latest version of Iron you can find under "Downloads".
So Iron is the first Chromium based webbrowser worldwide which has an adblocker included.

I have looked at Local Disc (C:) Program Files - SRWare Iron & there are 6 subfolders: Dictionaries, Extensions, Locales, Plugins, Resources & Themes. There are also other files including 'adblock'.

Could someone please tell me what & where do I copy & paste to activate the adblocker?

I'm sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I like to be sure about copying into C-drive folders. :?

Open the adblock.ini file you've written above in Iron's installation folder and add into it the filters list located in here: For me it worked... Good luck

I tried to copy it into the adblock notepad but it just wouldn't save. :(

Talk me through step by step if you would be so kind. I am running Windows Vista Home premium 32 bit.

Just few super-easy steps

1)download adblock.ini from this site
..... http://www.srware.net/downloads/adblock.ini
or... http://fanboy.co.nz/adblock/iron/

2) and put it inside "root folder" of Iron .... C:\Program Files\SRWare Iron\Adblock.ini

3) shut down Iron browser, run Iron again = now adblocker working

Fanboy Adblock list is frequently updated,
so You can download manually new list after each month (for example)....if you want!

More information here (in German, but easy)

Please open the webpage I mentioned, select all the filters and copy it to clipboard (Ctrl+C). Now, close the Iron browser and open the adblock.ini file in notepad and paste the copied content (Ctrl+V).

If notepad doesn't save the file, make sure you have administrator rights and the UAC is disabled. UAC can be found in Control Panel/User section. Good luck

OK thanks. I figured out most of it myself but I didn't realise I would have to disable the UAC. Thanks.
