New Iron-Version: 37.0.2000.0 Stable for Windows

Post by SRWare »

We released the new Iron 37 today, which contains all features and updates known from Chromium 37. The current version is 37.0.2000.0.

Main improvements:
- 64-Bit Version
- PDF-Viewer (print preview now works correct)
- DirectWrite API
- Bug-/Securityfixes

Known Issues:
- Sync does not work yet but a Fix/workaround is in progress
- common Chromium 37 problem: who has too much bookmarks in the "main bar" should move them in a folder. Otherwise tab switching can be slow (https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issu ... ?id=409126)

PS:
NativeClient is optinally available at http://www.srware.net/downloads/nacl.zip.

Download Installer:

Can not sign in to Iron (google). I've never had this problem with any of SRWare Iron build.

Hi,

I have just updated my browser from v33 to v37 and now all my extensions are gone. Can you please tell me how I can get them back?

Are they in another folder that I have to copy across? My bookmarks bar is fine, but not my extensions.

Any help appreciated.

WOW, just wow!

The grief I am having here.

I researched and tried to restore "User Data" folder to previous version (3 days ago) to try and get extensions back. No luck.
After that, I tried a System restore to do a roll back. It rolled back but then SRWare Iron would not open. (due to files not matching current version 37)

I found restored extensions, so copied them out for backup.

I then had to switch on "Date Created" in folder view to try and manually remove all files created today and then drop
backed up extensions back in. Still got the error and watched all copied extensions in folder view just disappear in front of me.

As it stands, Im using a different browser to type this as Iron will not open.

What is going on? Ive used Iron for a long time and had it set up nicely with FoxTabs and lots of bookmarked categories and lots of other extensions.

Now it's all a mess and in a corrupt state. Can I ask, do the DEVs overwrite every folder on an update or during the install process are they appending or backing up?

I'm very frustrated here.

Help appreciated.

If google is telling the truth then:
Speed: 64-bit allows us to take advantage of the latest processor and compiler optimizations, a more modern instruction set, and a calling convention that allows more function parameters to be passed quickly by registers. As a result, speed is improved, especially in graphics and multimedia content, where we see an average of 25 percent improvement in performance.
Security: With Chrome able to take advantage of the latest OS features such as High Entropy ASLR on Windows 8, security is improved on 64-bit platforms as well. Those extra bits also help us better defend against exploitation techniques such as JIT spraying, and improve the effectiveness of our existing security defense features like heap partitioning.
Stability: Finally, we’ve observed a marked increase in stability for 64-bit Chrome over 32-bit Chrome. In particular, crash rates for the renderer process (i.e., web content process) are almost half that of 32-bit Chrome.
Actually on modern PC's it should be less resource hungry. Possibly x64 will have problems with incompatible plugins.

Got them all back, through perseverance and pausing to think.

Still a nightmare of an experience and process.

Average/little experienced users would have a difficult time sorting this out, they may not even be able to fix the problem.

Can the 64 bit version be installed over the 32 bit version?

It uses the same profile folder. But Installation folder should be different.
