mac os x older version

hey,
got my new mac today and installed iron right away. but i got some issues with the newest build, so i downloaded an older version. but every time i try to start the older version, the newer one opens even though i already deleted that one.
its kinda a mixed question between me seeking help with iron and os x ^^ but hopefully someone can help me.
