How do I change my user agent?

Post by taltamir »

From the chrome vs iron comparison
User-Agent

The User-Agent in Chrome is only be changeable with parameters over a link or command, which isn't really ideal for permanent usage.

The User-Agent in Iron can be flexiblel and permanently changed by UA.ini.
So, how do I do it? I searched my C drive for UA.ini and no such file exists, which means I need to create it? how do I create and use such a file for iron?

This is incorrect, there is no such file in the SRWare root folder. That is where you are supposed to PLACE such a file once you created it.
well, actually in C:\Program Files (x86)\SRWare\
The last x32 PC CPU was manufactured in 2005. for the past 9 years all CPUs have been x64 (well, all PC CPUs, there are a few netbooks with early intel atoms which were also x32)

As for use instructions:
Step 1: Create new text file
Step 2: copy paste this code into the text file

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/37.0.2049.0 Safari/537.36
to emulate google chrome v37 (this makes the google chrome store work again, so your extensions can update again and you can install new ones)
Step 3: rename the file into ua.ini and place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\SRWare\

It's not possible to change User-Agent in Iron via ua.ini file!
It's possible to do via Iron-shortcut command only...
What a pitty.
it used to work back in the days of v37
it might not work like that anymore though since we are way past that version.
