How to print web fonts

Post by bsol »

Using Iron, when I print a web page (to a physical printer or by printing to PDF), the text on the page comes out garbled if the site uses web fonts, like Google fonts.

Those same pages print perfectly using Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, and even Internet Explorer ... but not Iron.

I've seen some old Google developer blogs discussing problems with Chromium printing web fonts a few years ago. Maybe this is the same problem Iron is having now ... or maybe Iron has had this problem for a long time and I'm only just now noticing it.

I have turned OFF the printer driver option that requires use of system fonts, so I am ensuring that the page downloads the actual fonts referenced by the web page, but the text still comes out scrambled. Given that all other browsers print web fonts with no problems, this appears to be an Iron problem.

Does anyone know a way to fix this when printing pages from Iron?
