Same here. Won't open any links from Thunderbird.
Some time ago I fixed this for my portable Iron in the registry.

Start>run, type: regedit
Go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http] and make a backup (export), do the same for [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https]

Now you can edit registry, but remember the path where you have a program SRWareIron, mine is c:\IronPortable\IronPortable.exe

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\IronPortable\\Iron\\Iron.exe,0"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell]
@="open"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\IronPortable\\IronPortable.exe\" -- \"%1\""
Same for https.

At the end copy the code below, paste it in your notepad and save as chromium.reg now doubleclick (of course you have to remember to change the path to the program).

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ChromiumHTM.VBHII7MCCJUVKWH2KHUGXV34SU]
@="Iron HTML Document"
"URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ChromiumHTM.VBHII7MCCJUVKWH2KHUGXV34SU\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\IronPortable\\Iron\\Iron.exe,0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ChromiumHTM.VBHII7MCCJUVKWH2KHUGXV34SU\shell]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ChromiumHTM.VBHII7MCCJUVKWH2KHUGXV34SU\shell\open]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ChromiumHTM.VBHII7MCCJUVKWH2KHUGXV34SU\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\IronPortable\\IronPortable.exe\" -- \"%1\""

I also had issues with links in external programs not opening up in Iron even though it was set as the default browser. For me, I was able to fix it with version 33 on my Windows 7 setup.

Turns out in my case that was because of a registry key that wasn't updated since Iron now uses "chrome.exe" as well as "iron.exe" to ensure compatibility with some extensions.
Solution: Using your favourite registry editor, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ChromiumHTML\shell\open\command

And make sure that it reads:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\SRWare Iron\chrome.exe" -- "%1"
(or whatever path Iron is installed to - just check it doesn't read iron.exe because that was what was broken)

I've just updated to version 34 and http links from other programs still work for me. Your mileage may vary...
AWESOME! It worked, thanks so much!!

After the newest update the sideway-scroll of my Logitech mouse has stopped working on Iron. It works in other browsers and applications.

Really liking this new version seeing i also upgraded from version 31.0.1700.0. Browser is alot faster and responsive when opening up additional sites/tabs.

Thanxs monomer888! Registry fix has been applied. My path was reading to Iron.exe, not Chrome.exe!

Running like a dream for me now :D

Thanks for the new release, but it seems to require an SSE2 processor. Any chances to compile it without this dependency please ? Google Chrome does need SSE2 instructions since v35, but this thread is about v34, so this requirement shouldn't exist, right ?

New release keeps crashing on sites with heavy flash elements. OS is Windows 7

Already did the following in an attempt to fix it but nothings cures the crashes:
-ccleaner temp files
-uninstall flash
-uninstall SRWare
-uninstall SRWare and manual delete all leftovers/folders
-reinstall SRWare and reinstall flash

Please fix. The browser is pretty much unusable (for me) atm.

I run two extensions:
AdBlock Plus (not enabled on this domain ofc :) ) and Disconnect. It seems the browser doesn't crash anymore when I disable the Disconnect extension.

with the new version I got massive flash problems. It keeps crashing and crashing... all solutions suggestions I could find didn't help or didn't apply (or I've been to stupid to do so). Do you have any suggestions what might cause it and how to fix it? Is it me or do others experience the same problem?
