I've been using Iron portable for over a year without problems until now that it just won't connect to anything, i keep getting "Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED)"

I don't remember making any changes to my computer. I checked for viruses, checked IE's proxy settings, disabled the firewall (the one that comes with XP), disabled the Antivirus (Avast)... nothing.
I haven't noticed any problem with other software, Firefox and Internet Explorer work okay.
I tried installing Google Chrome and it won't connect either. Google Chrome Frame does work though.
Any idea how to detect what the problem might be?

Thanks, but I've tried all that before. Does the browser create some sort of log where I can find out exactly what goes wrong?

Ctrl-Shift-J for dev console where you can see eventually various errors
