new iron user--toolbar missing a few things

Maybe this is obvious but I cannot find the setting to enable a "recent pages" list or a "stop" (X) button

OR> Press and Hold down the Back and Forward arrow icons to see recent history for the tab that is active.
The Stop or 'X' button is incorporated in the Reload icon in the upper right next to the Home icon.
It is an 'X' when a page is loading, and the 'circular arrow' when the page loading has completed.
