[21.0.1200.0b151001] Still reverts to google.com!

Hello

In the hope that Google would return localized data when I need it to (no sense in being told about burger joints in DC when you live in Berlin), I wanted to change Iron's default search engine from "google.com" to "google.fr"*.

Here's what I did:
  1. Through "[wrench icon] > Settings > Search > Manage Search Engines > Other Search Engines", I added "google.fr",
  2. Hit "Make default", which added the item in "Default search settings" alongside "google.com"
  3. Clicked on "Make default" to make "google.fr" the default engine
  4. Closed and restarted Iron, expecting it to use "google.fr" as the default engine.
  5. Typed something in the URL widget... and I'm back at google.com, with non-localized data.
Here's a screenshot:

How can I finally get Iron to use google.fr instead of google.com? Or is this issue precisely due to Iron' selling feature, namely that it doesn't track users (in which case: Does it mean Iron is unable to return localized search data?)?

Thank you.

* That still leaves the issue of how to do get non-localized data for general search (ie. search not particular to a given location), but that's another question for another day.

Mine is set this way, and it works.

Name: Google.fr (Default)
Shortcut: fr
Url: http://www.google.fr/search?name=f&hl=en&q=%s

I type fr in the search field and hit enter. Which takes me to Google.fr. Then I type what I am looking for.

For the non-localized the URL are: http://www.google.com/webhp or http://www.google.com/ncr

Hope it helps :)

Thanks for the tip. Using "http://www.google.fr/search?name=f&hl=en&q=%s" instead of the original does the trick: Iron now uses google.fr when I type search items in the URL bar, even without closing and restarting it.

However, the results are still not localized: Does it mean that Iron is hard-coded to search for localized items based on the language used to build the application (eg. English = US results)?

I don't know what /webhp and /ncr are.

Incidently, why am I having all these issues while I had no problem with Chrome?
