to set Srware Iron as the default web browser:
  • by terminal install exo utils: apt-get install exo-utils;
    then type: exo-preferred-applications;
    choose other in the choosing browser area;
    indicate this position: /usr/share/iron/iron.
To make Ubuntu software Center able tio manage link of software it lists:
  • create into main folder (your name or pc name you have set) the following folder: http://www.srware.net
    copy into it iron file from /usr/share/iron/;
    (eventually) reboot.

I want to use Iron with and without addons in Ubuntu 12.04. I like hoverzoom, lastpass, and a few other extensions. But sometimes I want to run an instance of Iron with no addons. Is there a switch that disables extensions so I can create a separate launcher? I mean something other than incognito mode.

Thank you. Love this software! :ironvschrome

exo-utils is for XFCE users. For others Desktop Environnments, use its own utility. For example with LXDE, it is :

Code: Select all

libfm-pref-apps

bksening wrote:The general answer, to keep your privacy secure, you canNOT install any extensions at all; you have no idea what an extension is doing unless you read through all the extension source code and verify it yourself. The whole point of the message (the extensions can access your data ...) is because there IS VERY serious danger.

Bottom line - extensions are ALWAYS a potential threat to anyone's privacy.
that's what i expected the true answer would be, honesty is appreciated... so thus far not using any addons... i really miss fbpurity though... :cry:
