You can turn off the protected mode by adding ' ProtectedMode=0 ' (NO HASHES) to the mms.cfg file in the /system32/macromed file,
OR revert to the 10.3.183.20 version for a while until Adobe gets it head out of that dark place it is in(he link to it is in the JayHawkRocks post)
I turned the protected mode off as above, and it seemed to help with the problems I was having with it. BUT> I got a copy of the 10.3 version to have on hand just in case.
EDIT>>> If I recall correctly, if you create a plugins or any other folder in the Iron install folder, it will likely be gone the next time you update Iron. That has been my experience anyway.
