New Tab Only

After making changes to the Home Page setting under Options-Basic nothing happens. If I turn off "Use the New Tab" and indicate a "Open this page" with a valid address or set it to "about:blank", nothing results. No matter what I do the new tab always comes up with the New Tab page displaying panels of "Most Visited" sites. Any advice as to how to resolve this. It appears to be a bug since any alteration of the appropriate parameter results in no change. Thanks.

you need something to change your "new tab page".
Chome / iron doesnt offer an option to do this.
