Dangerous Plug-In "Remoting Viewer" found in about:plugins

Post by SkySoul »

Hello

I would like to inform you, that there is a dangerous plugin in every Iron/chrome installation since version 16 or even before.

The Plug-In "Remoting Viewer" is in a beta-stadium and allows google to use a remote desktop via chrome on your computer!
The "Remoting viewer" used to allow Chrome Remote Desktop BETA app to run
More Information about Chrome Remote Desktop BETA app:
https://support.google.com/chrome/bin/a ... er=1649523

This is what they have done.
a) Install a potentially vulnerable plug-in (this is *beta* software right?) to millions of Chrome installations that do not use it
b) Enable it by default
c) Not ask permission for this
d) Not mention this clearly during Chrome installation / update
e) Not document this plug-in.
f) Use a misleading name for it

ps: a remote viewer is someone, who can see things on remote places without beeing there!

so turn this shit off!

Remoting Viewer >> DEACTIVATE

also you can deactivate java, because this is also used to see more details about your browser and make a better browser fingerprint!

this is what every site could see about you:

thats the lesson of the day..!

I disable it because I don't need/want it. I have TeamViewer for that, and I only use it when necessary.

That site you posted, it detected my location wrong, not even close. Now, the location thing is weird because I don't use a proxy.
The "Who is" is close but no cigar.

All-in-all, thanks for the information, it's quite useful.

I concur with megaman. Thanks for the post and the links. Quite interesting. But like megaman, it doesn't even get close to my actual location, and a few other things are off as well. And there a few things it couldn't even complete because of the way I close ports on my machine.
This is just another of the Google intrusion things that SRWare should be taking care of in their clean up IMO!
