Iron needs a fresh merge from chromium src

Post by Carl »

Iron needs to be updated to the latest chromium src because you seem to not use the latest src when updating iron to a new version

There are bugs lingering from the src you have.

An example of a bug:
IronPortable latest version,
Iron creates a folder "Chromium" and sub folder "User Data" in "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\"

This is so wrong because that is not portable !

I have tested Chromium latest build and it doesn't have this bug.

Please do this for the next release.

Are you sure its a bug at all? Because my sister uses Google Chrome portable and it creates its own profile folder. However the folder is named google instead of chromium. Maybe chromium is creating one also but under a different name? I really do not see this as a issue because a browser needs a profile to run.

Good luck man

You misunderstand, IronPortable use the switch "-user-data-dir="Profile""
With this folder structure:
X:\IronPortable\Iron\Iron.exe
X:\IronPortable\IronPortable.exe
That will put the profile folder:
X:\IronPortable\Profile\

The bug above creates folder which are empty and never used !
And when you remove them iron recreates them again.

So yes this IS a bug.
