setting zoom

i can use ctrl+ to increase the zoom settings, but it only seems to last for 1 page.
Is there anyway I can set a permanent zoom for my browsing? I know I can change the text size in the options but that often messes up the graphics and layout, I just want to set a permanent zoom setting of 1 or 2 degrees higher than the default.
In firefox as well as that I have a great addon that will remember zoom setting for individual webpages even.
