Google update plugin registers itself not only to update Chrome. Also other Google apps can be updated by this plugin such as google earth, desktop, talk, gears. Maybe that's the reason you do see the plugin on the Iron plugins list.

I got rid of it.Forgot I had google earth plugin.Found the google folder in program files,opened up and ther was the update folder,full of Dill's,on of which was in IRON.Deleted the google foler as well as earth plugin.
