Any plans to create a module to auto-update the list? May be some kind of extension that will be able to download any list from AdBlocker Plus, transform it in the way compatible with Iron and replace the original AdBlock.ini?

P.S.: I'm not a programmer so I cann't make it myself =(

That link points to a small program to automatically update adblock.ini from this site.
https://secure.fanboy.co.nz/iron/complete/adblock.ini
I have found that it is just as easy to go to that page, RIGHT CLICK in the page somewhere, and the do the "Save As', and save it to your adblock, ini file in the Iron install folder.
NOTE!! REMOVE THE .txt from the end of the name BEFORE you finish the Save As!

I thought we had to copy all that text, then paste it all in notepad, THEN save as adblock.ini, close Iron replace old adblock with new one. I see a window prompt asking me if i want to replace it and i tell it, "don't worry, it's ok, it'll only hurt for a moment"...lol.

Seriously, though, when i do it this way, seeing as how i can't do a windows right click save for some reason, it doesn't select the text. And when i save the file to desktop, it won't sow up as a config file if i don't manually copy all that text scrolling down the page with my mouse. If i just click "save as", it just copies the text file, and it doesn't show up with the "gear wheel on front of a page" icon unless i do it this way.

Does that small program directly update that adblock list, or does it use anything related to chrome? Cuz most of chromes extentions have that spycrapware it it, and it even says it can gather info, at least they warn you...lol.

Open this page in a new tab. https://secure.fanboy.co.nz/iron/complete/adblock.ini
Right click in it, anywhere (it doesn't select anything). The Right click menu should have the 'Save As' option in it. Select that. You should get the Windows save box with the file name at the bottom reading adblcok.ini.txt
REMOVE the .txt so it reads adblcok.ini, and then path to the install folder for Iron and save it, allow it it overwrite.
I do this several times a week, with Iron open, and it hasn't failed to update yet.

Nope..it don't work that way for me. I tried it like 5 times now, and it always does the same thing...i drag the saved .ini file and hover it above the old adblock list, and instead of overwriting it, like it does when i do it the way i described, it plants itself NEXT to the adblock folder as a text file, which does nothing.

And yes, i make sure to get rid of the .txt file extension name before i save it. Anyway, not a problem as now I'm working on how to get the autoupdater working right. i followed ironusers directions to the letter, and it just won't work for me. i have to manually select and scroll thru ALL that text, THEN so the save as, and like i said, i remove the .txt BEFORE i do the save as. Ok, enough of that...lol.

Like i said, i put the modified fanboy list in the startup folder, and when i reboot, i get the window that says i updated the list, but it's not the same date as the one (same fanboy list) i have saved in my toolbar to update from everyday. For some weird reason, his list always has the next day on it. Here it is copied from me just now># Fanboy's Adblock list (Iron-Chrome)

-------
See how it says the 7th? well today is the 6th...lol. So i can't tell if it working until tomorrow, cuz it might be displaying the correct date due to using the startup folder to update it when i power on the pc.

I'm scratching my head here. You should be able to do the save directly. Are you using Win7? Maybe that has some effect on how things are handled in Windows, but it shouldn't.

Also, you do not have to manually scroll through all the text on the page to select it.
1- HIGHLIGHT the top line, or even a small part of it.
2- use the scroll bar or page keys to get to the bottom of the page.
3- Hold the SHIFT key down.
4- Click the cursor after the the last word in the last line to HIGHLIGHT all of the page's text.
5- Do a right click COPY or (CTRL-C)
5- Paste (CTRL+V) into a Notepad document.

Yeah, I know about the 'advanced date thing. Fanboy's page is made on HIS current date. I'm guessing it is from New Zealand since it has a .nz suffix.

Yeah, I'm using win 7, also that auto updater in put in the sartup folder still says the 6th, so that's now working. I'm using win 7 64 bit, i live in the us, est zone. I got the pop-up page that shows up upon reboot that tells me the adblocker auto updated, but the date is still the 6th. I'm waiting to update so i can make sure the auto updater does it. No offense iron user, but the way you described is even slower than doing it by selecting text with the mouse, and hold the mouse to the very bottom of the screen.

And i didn't know time zones could differ so much as to show the next day. Huh, thanks for the info. I do appreciate your help and patience, all. I do a copy control paste thing when i do something else, but his page doesn't work. I've even tried it in a seperate tab.

Now the dam edit button isn't working again. I have to correct a typo...the auto updater is NOT working for me, i typed "is now working" by mistake. Srware guys, can we get that "edit post" function back in here please?
