ccleaner picking up chrome history from iron

I have been experimenting with the chrome's adblocker, which i found out is connected to chromes tracking guts. So i used fanboys list, instead of chromes easylist or adblock file. I visited a few pages, and ccleaner found a LOT of files in chrome, which should NOT be installed on my machine if Iron was truly independent of chromes tracking guts.

i verified this by deleting iron and all it's folders and files, downloaded firefox, beta 5, and visted a few pages, ran ccleaner, no sign of chrome. So i redownloaded iron again, and didn't install any addons, nothing...visited a few websites, and ran ccleaner, and there was chrome again...lots of files. Why is chrome showing up at all if Iron is truly independent of chrome and it's spyware? I really love Iron, and it's simplicity and speed, but i am wary of this new discovery. If anybody can verify that these "chrome" files are truly independent of chromes spyware, i would appreciate it. Meanwhile, i will be using firefox. But i would really love it if sware can positively, w/o a doubt state that is Iron is truly independent of chrome I will switch back it it in a hearbeat.

Is it just that some Iron files are required to be "classified" as chrome, to assimilate it's software, and is not tied in with it? I noticed that the chrome adblocker has not been available as an Iron add-on, because it's directly tied in with chrome tracking guts, therefore negating Iron's independence of chromes spyware.

It should be detecting Iron as "Chromium" because it does use the Application Data from Chromium (it is a customized build of Chromium that unlike the Flock 3 Beta has never been set to use a different directory); this is also why you may run into problems if you try to run SRWare Iron and a Chromium nightly at the same time.

No, it doesn't detect any "chromium" software, neither do i use anything named chromium. What ccleaner picks up is google chrome, as in the browser. I haven't installed anything related to chrome for a couple days now. including any extentions. I am using fanboys adblock.ini in conjunction with iron's default adblock, (not chromes adblocker. Should i delete the default adblock folder? It says not to, but of course it doesn't "know" I'm replacing it with fanboys adblocker...lol.

Also, i see we have an extentions list for Iron. Or these hand picked because they don't contain any tracking properties of chrome...like the utube downloader, or the page resizer...are they ok to use? I would assume so, because chromes adblocker is not in this list.

Thank you for your time and patience with me in answering my questions...i really appreciate it. I think Iron is such a great browser, but i want to be absolutely sure of what I'm doing...i also use scroogle exclusivity as a search engine, and refuse to type 1 single letter in google search. i'm getting more and more anal about my privacy as i learn more about Iron-Firefox and Chrome and the differences. Chrome is freakin' evil!

On a side note...can the mods of this forum enable us to edit our posts? The forum is very basic and not much in the way of options...but at least you guys gave us smiley's and an uploader..

Sorry for the double post, but we can't edit our posts or i would have edited mine. I want to ask the Iron dev peeple if they can update the page zoomer so it increases by 10% instead of 20%. 20% make everything to big, and i wear glasses, as must others here do too. I don't want to use googles page resizer, cuz it says it can see whatever i do.

At least they admit it and warn us, I'll give them that, but i don't want any of their crap on my pc. Also i still can't get my dam favorites into the toolbar. i have it saved as and .lnk file, Favorites.lnk. I tried to rename it to an html file and import it, but it doesn't work. It find the file, but no name appears in the file name box...lol. Now it's name is favorites.html.lnk...AND, i stupidly duplicated them all and can't find a way to delete the duplicates!

so i have my favorites saved on my desktop and it works, i just click on it and there's all my url's, and i click on one, and Iron just opens up the page very fast. Sooo, if anybody knows the secret to THAT riddle, I'd appreciate a little help. Thanks for a great browser, sware guys!

It turns out that CCleaner recognizes any Chromium-based browser as "Chrome"
