DNS pre-fetching?

I have noticed that 'Under the Bonnet' in
Options I have the ability to turn the
DNS pre-fetching on or off. Is there any real advantage to have this activated? What are the disadvantages?

OK thanks. I think I have seen this page before. I'm not sure I fully understood it all but it's nice to know that I have the ability to turn it on or off.
