:?: Would there be any problem with loading Iron on Windows 2000 Professional SP4+?

If Windows 2000-compatibility is present, I will post this info on Windows 2000 forums where some people are "hacking" Chrome to work with this OS.

8-) They have been successful, but problems the "hacks" tend to break :( whenever Chrome code is updated.

Windows 2000 is not officially supported, but with some luck it may run without problems
You have to test it by yourself , i have no Win2k here.

Thanks, at least you're not blocking the install, as does Chrome.

Yes, usually it does run as the two are somewhat related, NT 5.0 (2000) vs. NT 5.1 (XP).

I just installed the current version of Iron on a Windows 2000 Pro SP4 virtual machine. Installer runs with no problem, but trying to start Iron results in:

Code: Select all

Iron.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point IsWow64Process could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
So... Iron does not work out of the box on Windows 2000. :)

I am eager to try a Linux version when it is ready. Thank you for all your work! :D

We tried to support Windows 2000, but the possibility to do gets harder with every release because Windows 2000 lacks more and more "modern functions".
It's now nearly 10 years old.

I am not complaining... this was just for the information of others, since the original poster did not mention what happened with his attempt to use Iron. :)
