Iron Portable Flash Plugin Help

Post by dwestenk »

I am using Iron Portable on a USB drive and it works great. However, I get the 'Adobe Flash player plugin is not installed' warning box where flash animations should be on any web page with flash animation.

I use Window XP and I have Iron Portable version 4.0.275.2 (35162) on my USB drive. I have the 'flashplayer.xpt' and 'NPSWF32.dll' files, but am not sure if they are what is needed for Iron Portable; I am not sure where to place them. (In Chrome, these files are in the GoogleChromePortable\App\Chrome-bin\plugins directory.)

Any help would be most appreciated!

I would second this request. I have tried placing the 2 mentioned files in \IronPortable\Profile\Default\Plugin Data\ , but this doesn't work. Of course I did a restart.

Please enlighten us howe to get flash working!

Wow,

nice collection of posts! Thanks a lot for the effort!

However, in my installation of IronPortable (as downloaded from here, SRWare) the paths are different. I think over at portableapps, they have changed the paths to suit their standards. In any case, I don't have GoogleChromePortable\App\Chrome-bin in my installation.

But the funny thing is also that at home, my IronPortable was perfectly capable of displaying youtube movies - not so however in the office. Same installation, though, running from the same stick. And that was without flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll.

So I will have to do further investigations why this doesn't work. Maybe you have an idea?

Thanks again for your input, and have a nice week-end!

Hey guys, I just found a way to get it working:
I created a folder named "Plugins" inside the one called "Iron". After that, i pasted the files named "NPSWF32.dll" and "flashplayer.xpt" in it. Restarted Iron, and voilá!! Everything working just fine.

I think flashplayer.xpt is not necessary, because .xpt files are used by Firefox.
Only NPSWF32.dll is necessary to run Flash.

Also if you have gcswf32.dll from an installation of Google Chrome, you can copy that to the SRWare Iron directory (the one containing "iron.exe") and start it with the flag --enable-internal-flash and it will pick that up.

For JRE/Java plugin, get the portable Java (either form PortableApps.com or PortableAppz.blogspot.com), extract to some place and get from:
> C:\Portable Apps\CommonFiles\Java\bin\plugin2
these files: msvcr100.dll and npjp2.dll

Put msvcr100.dll in:
> IronPortable\App\Iron

and put npjp2.dll in (create the "Plugins" folder):
> IronPortable\App\Iron\Plugins

Try test it on this site:

You're on! :ironvschrome
